For over 20 years, the Christmas tree at the State Capitol has been adorned by ornaments made by the developmentally disabled. From Regional Centers to Developmental Centers to community arts programs hundreds upon hundreds of ornaments are hand crafted to take their place on the tree. The magnificent 40 foot tree is decorated with over 3000 ornaments and 10,000 lights. Each year a developmentally disabled child is chosen to participate in the official tree lighting ceremony with the Governor and First Lady by placing one of the ornaments on the tree.
This year BARC Clients from our Access Now program proudly participated in this wonderful holiday tradition for the first time, sending 18 handmade ornaments to take their place on the Christmas tree
Everyone here at BARC wishes your family a safe and happy Holiday Season.
